Thanks. A concern that I have long had is that our culture has become pervasively corporatized. Broadly speaking, religion and academia were counter-cultures. No longer. Churches increasingly are built on business models and college presidents, who were often national sages, have primarily become fund raisers.

Terrific explanation that helped me understand why I cringe when seeing posts that condemn capitalism as if the very word is a pejorative. And the evil doers who hold the reigns of corporations? They suck the marrow from the bones of their workers, the workers who struggle to make their masters wealthy according to such postings.

I recall that corporate and government leadership at the top influenced our organizational culture (morality), morale, and success or failure. One of my brothers, a former VP at a community college told me how is college fell on hard times when they hired the wrong president - failure to raise funds, demoralized faculty, failed to innovate.

The fact that the human rights field is dominated by women is not unexplicable. In fact, its a logical consequence of the stark, real differences in the human psyche between males and females, the male and female archetypes if you wish. This of course does not mean that all Males adhere 100% to the Male Archetype or that Females adhere 100% to the Female Archetype, which are in the end, just metaphors for a particular set of values and behaviors, emanating from males and females but in a statistical sense only. In the end, society can only live in harmony if both are recognized for their utility and value in making us happy. Neither archetype is good or bad, they are needed in a constant interplay throughout our lives and depending on circumstances. The problem today arises because modern society has, in fact, become in terms of values, over-feminized, even if males still trust most power positions. This is what extreme leftists/progressives/wokes dont get (I am a progressive and environmentalist, classical leftist from France, so not a right winger or conservative at all). The over-feminization of the world at least in rich societies is seen in the preponderance of women in professions or professional trainings that are close to "taking care" of people. This was already evident in health care/nursing (except at the doctor level) and in kindergarten, where taking care of people is the n°1 priority. But as society becomes more and more a "taking care of all peoples including their emotions" society, women have taken over more and more professions. In France, there are now more women studying law for instance, and more women becoming lawyers and judges. Im guessing this is probably the same in the good ol' US of A. So to me, since human rights is the quintessential "taking care of" paradigm, it does not surprise, AT ALL, that your students now are ALL women, and that they were 90% recently. The problem with this is, again, one of balance. The consequence is all the ridiculous stuff about safe space, the fetishization you speak of, even, ultimately the denial of reality, as when ideologues crazily assert that gender is no more than a social construction and that since in their eyes sex=gender, sex is too ! Leading to mind boggling orwellian stuff like The Lancet calling women "people with vaginas" or other such nonsense. Whats the solution ? Simply to recognize that BOTH paradigms have validity and utility ! the male AND the female ! and that for example, BOTH masculinity and feminity can be toxic, and that BOTH male and female have power, albeit in different ways ! This should be obvious, but we have let ideologues run amok. The irony is that those "useful idiots" in the end are responsible for the backlash that leads millions to vote for populists like Trump, Erdogan etc. And ultimately, those ultra-extremists of the Left are actually helping tyranny and fascism, which is defined in the classical sense of the State and Enterprise colluding in one ideological enterprise to control the minds of the people. This is exactly what the wokes are doing in the USA, by pressuring companies, by coercing them, to espouse a particular toxic ideology of (super-feminized) "compassionism", which puts "emotions über alles". Which has further consequences of the denial of science, leading to harmless fads like believing the Earth is flat and we did not go to the Moon, to antivaxxers or "the-election-was-stolen" crazies who then go on to kill people in an attempt to take over government. So funny how the ultra progressives in the end help, and even empower and enable, the ultra conservatives !
