Hamas is an ideology which came into existence and took control of Gaza because of its siege and occupation of the West Bank by Israel. We need to implement the 2-state solution. See my email with 2 attachments.
Thanks for posting about your Israel visit and impressions. I too am a secular Jew - culturally Jewish, philosophically humanist. So, I lean toward Israel even while sympathizing with the people of Gaza. My dilemma is with Palestinians who would mostly favor the destruction of Israel after years of enmity. I am further quandried by the ill treatment of Palestinians over the years and especially under Netenyahhu. Hamas did not take over Gaza without the consent of a population. And Netenyahu did not come to power without a majority of Israeli support. And so, I am caught up in what seems like an insoluble situation. Like Jean's comment, I look forward to your further commentary.
